  • Anonymous asked: I love your blog! My questions is, during March I applied for summer internships at a couple of labels (Warner Brothers, Sony, Universal) and didn't hear back from any of them. Do you think it was because I am only going into my junior year of college? I am going to try again next summer, if I don't hear back from the labels should I reach out to them although some specifically say "we will contact you"? Thanks!

    Thanks for the love!

I actually don’t think it has anything to do with your year in school. In fact, I know younger interns than you. This may not be nice, but if you haven’t heard back from anyone, you may want to revamp your resume because that may be the issue.

If you don’t hear from a label after applying for an internship, I think it’s fine to reach out once (two weeks later) to follow up and show your interest. Of course, you can only reach out once and only if you have someone’s specific email address whom you can contact. Also, if you don’t hear back from a major label, I encourage you to find alternate internship opportunities! Look into smaller labels, management companies etc. A good trick is to research the bands you like most- see what label and management company they’re signed to.
